How GPS Fuel Monitoring Helps Reduce Fuel Theft and Waste
Fuel is often the biggest cost for a fleet. Learn how fuel sensors and GPS data expose theft, idling and inefficient driving.
Fuel is typically one of the largest operating costs for any fleet, and it is also one of the easiest to lose without noticing. Small, repeated losses from siphoning, unauthorised trips and long idling add up quickly across a month.
GPS fuel monitoring combines a fuel level sensor, or CAN-bus data from the vehicle, with location and ignition information from a tracker. The platform charts the tank level over time, so a sudden drop while the vehicle is parked stands out immediately, along with where and when it happened.
Used well, the data does more than catch theft. Consumption reports per vehicle and per driver highlight inefficient driving, excess idling and mechanical problems such as leaking tanks or clogged filters. Over time you can set a realistic fuel benchmark for each route.
For reliable results, choose sensors that suit your tank type, have them installed and calibrated by trained technicians, and combine fuel alerts with geofences and ignition alerts. If you are unsure which tracker supports your sensor, our team can check compatibility before you buy.
